There has been a lot of angry people online since the release of Marvel's Iron Man 3. Why? Because Toni Stark spent mega amount of time in the movie looking like a regular human being than being in his fancy suit of armor. I have to say that these people have missed the whole concept of the entire movie.
The first couple of movies of the Iron Man franchise introduced us to the man in the suit, but Marvel made an important point starting from the last lines of the first movie, Tony Stark, regardless of being told to stick to a cover up story comes out and says in once and for all. He does not say: 'Iron Man is me.' 'I am the man behind the mask.' or even 'I run the suit that is Iron Man." No he clearly states "I am Iron Man."

We see others in versions of Tony's suit of Iron. They are not called Iron Man. The point behind the third movie was to make it clear to the audience, if it wasn't so already, and to some of you it is not from comments you have made about the movie which include "He spent to much time out of his suit", "The third movie should not have Iron Man in the title", and "Why is this even considered a movie about Iron Man? This movie should be named Tony Stark", that the man behind the suit is in fact still Iron Man.

This is enforced further when Tony hijacks the com system in Lt. Col. James Rhodes suit. Tony of course being the designer and inventor behind the suit can over ride any "Iron Man Suit's" basic functions remotely at anytime through his computer system Jarvis, through which all suits are linked. Rhodes was not happy about his doing so, partially because it reminds him that while it may be "his" suit, he is essentially borrowing it from the true Iron Man.

Another thing, in the beginning of Iron Man 3 Tony remotely controls one of his suits in order to work in the lab while supposedly being on a date with Pepper. Pepper is very angry at this because she is not dating the suit. She is dating Tony Stark, Iron Man. The fact that the suits can function on their own is further proof that the man behind the suit is what makes Iron Man who he is. As seen in the third movie all suits can function basically on their own with a few remote verbal commands, but these suits are not in Iron Man.

Furthermore, the proves that Tony Stark is not a wimpy billionaire hiding behind his bullet-proof suit. When what some believe makes Tony Stark Iron Man quite literally blows a gasket, he has to make do on whit and instinct alone to survive genetically modified human beings out for his destruction, which he does albeit slightly destructively himself. He does blow up a building with dog tags, a microwave, and an on purpose gas leak. This man is one smart cookie!

If you cannot see what has been reiterated for you time and time again you are not truly an Iron Man fan and don't deserve to have such rude opinions towards the director, play writes, and crew. They were doing their jobs as well as proving a very important point that members of the Iron Man fandom have seem to forgotten. Toni Stark is what makes the suit Iron Man, the suit does not make Tony Stark Iron Man.

[last lines of Iron Man]
Tony Stark: There's been speculation that I was involved in the events that occurred on the freeway and the rooftop...
Christine Everheart: I'm sorry, Mr. Stark, but do you honestly expect us to believe that that was a bodyguard in a suit that conveniently appeared, despite the fact that...
Tony Stark: I know that it's confusing. It is one thing to question the official story, and another thing entirely to make wild accusations, or insinuate that I'm a superhero.
Christine Everheart: I never said you were a superhero.
Tony Stark: Didn't?
Christine Everheart: Mmm-mmm.
Tony Stark: Well, good, because that would be outlandish and, uh, fantastic. I'm just not the hero type. Clearly. With this laundry list of character defects, all the mistakes I've made, largely public.
Rhodey: [whispers to Tony] Just stick to the cards, man.
Tony Stark: Yeah, okay.
Tony Stark: [holds up his notes and pauses] The truth is...
Tony Stark: [puts cards down] I am Iron Man.

What Do You Think? Is Tony Stark Iron Man?
