New plot details of [Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice](movie:711870) have surfaced online teasing the film's opening and the nature of Superman's role in the film.
While fans wait for the film's first trailer to provide a slightly more solid plot and character detail, Badass Digest, which claims to possess an earlier draft of the movie's script, has revealed some new, interesting spoilers about the storyline.
Batman v Superman begins with Batman's origin story (filming for which took place in November) and then revisits the Superman - General Zod battle scene from Man of Steel, showing Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne during the fight, in Metropolis. (via ComicBookMovie)
The action then moves a couple of years ahead showing Clark Kent and Lois Lane in a relationship and living together. Clark is still working at the Daily Planet when he's tasked with covering a Metropolis/Gotham football game (a likely introductory scene for Victor Stone before he becomes Cyborg). But Clark seems more interested in knowing more, and writing, about Batman.
The script then turns its attention to Superman heavily, and it examines the implications of Superman in the real world.
Very early in the film Lois is in the Middle East following a story when Superman shows up to help her out. His appearance and involvement there becomes something of an international issue as other nations view Superman as a United States weapon.
"China, for instance, doesn't want him in their air space. It's an interesting look at how a being like Superman would be viewed on a global scale," states the BD report.
According to the website, the upcoming film also strives to correct several criticisms that Man of Steel received.
For example, during a confrontation with an (unknown) villain, Supes tells him, "I won't snap your neck, I'm going to take you to prison," a response to criticisms of the first movie when he killed Zod.
However, the report goes on to add that Superman later loses his cool and threatens to break the bad guy's back, so maybe the 'raw' element of the character is still intact.
Another instance is; when the Doomsday fight starts, General Swanwick tells the military that Superman will move the battle away from populated areas because he's a hero, and that's what heroes do. Again, this is a direct response to complaints about the first film which depicted massive destruction to a city during the climactic battle.
It's also revealed that in the film, most people - except Lex Luthor and a cautious Batman, who is prepping anti-Superman weapons - believe that Superman is a hero.
