I'll begin by warning you that this article contains major spoilers for Arrow Season 3 Episode 9 "The Climb". If you haven't seen this episode, I urge you to watch it before continuing reading. Of course, I'm only text and if you want to keep reading you can! However, do so at your own discretion.
The Mid-Season Finale of Arrow left fans sitting so far on the edge of their seat that they were on the floor. It was the climax that the whole season had been building to: a fight between Oliver Queen and Ra's Al Ghul.
The duel ends in a gut wrenching - quite literally - manner, when Ra's stabs Oliver through the stomach, then kicks his dying body off the edge of a cliff.
With our hero presumably dead, fans are left to wonder what lies in the future of Arrow. Who will protect Starling City? Will the Lazarus Pit be the tool of Oliver's resurrection? Will Oliver Queen return?
The CW have released the official synopsis of the upcoming episode titled "Left Behind". Here is that synopsis:
"THE TEAM DEALS WITH OLIVER'S DISAPPEARANCE - In the aftermath of Oliver's (Stephen Amell) fight with Ra's Al Ghul (Matt Nable), Diggle (David Ramsey) and Arsenal (Colton Haynes) continue to protect the city in the Arrow's absence. However, after three days without hearing from Oliver, they begin to fear the worst may have happened to their friend.
Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) refuses to believe that Oliver could be dead until Merlyn (John Barrowman) pays the team a surprise visit.
Thea (Willa Holland) suspects there is something more behind Oliver's disappearance and asks Merlyn for a favor.
Meanwhile, Ray (Brandon Routh) tests a part of his new suit and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) takes up the mantle of the Black Canary.
Glen Winter directed the episode written by Marc Guggenheim & Eric Oleson (#310). Original airdate 1/21/2015."
Wow! Just wow!
We have so much to look forward to in this episode!
We will be seeing some solo Diggle and Arsenal action as they continue to protect Starling City.
We will be seeing more of Malcolm Merlyn. Will he be working with team Arrow? For them? Or will he do as he usually does and abide to his own agenda? The latter seems most likely. After all, Oliver's defeat by Ra's means that Merlyn's name was not cleared as he had hoped, and that he will still continue to be hunted by The League of Assassins.
Will Thea's suspicion of Oliver's disappearance lead her to discover his identity as the bow and arrow wielding vigilante turned hero?
We will finally get to see some action from comic book favorite The Atom, A.K.A Ray Palmer.
And lastly we will get to see Laurel dawn the Black Canary costume, although this was revealed via a set of screenshots released for the episode a few weeks ago.
So much to look forward to, yet still so long to wait! The second half of season 3 promises to be amazing. Just in case you haven't seen it, here's the teaser for episode 10:
