Needing neither sleeves nor a gun to take care of business, Daryl Dixon forced his way into our heart as our favorite walker killing member of [The Walking Dead](series:201193) gang.
Over the last five seasons of the show Daryl has not only been a top notch character who is fun to watch, but he's even managed to teach us some damn good life lessons! Take a look at these eight life lessons that Daryl Dixon taught us:
1. Don't judge a book by its cover
I'm not going to lie, when I first saw Daryl in the third episode of [The Walking Dead](series:201193), I definitely thought he was going to be the token aggressive, redneck of the group, pretty much like his brother Merle. However this was one judgement I was happy to be proven wrong on! Daryl has consistently shown throughout the show that just because someone might look one way, that doesn't mean that's who they are deep down.
2. It's OK to cry
If something makes you sad, you best just take a leaf from the book of Daryl Dixon and let it all out.
3. Your past doesn't have to define you
A mother who burned to death in a fire caused by her own cigarette, an older brother who abandoned you to your abusive father, yep, Daryl had a pretty tough life, though somehow through all of that he still managed to come through it. If he's taught us anything it's that you can can have everything in life working against you, and still manage to come out of it a good person.
4. Sometimes it's OK to be harsh
So we all know Daryl can have a bit of a temper, but sometimes when you see a friend doing something stupid, like Bob getting drunk when they were out on a run, it's ok to get real with them. Even more than this, on the odd occasion he does go too far, he always makes it up to his friends somehow.
5. Never give up
Way back in Season 2, Carol's daughter Sophia went missing, and the gang set up camp to search for her. After several days many of the others were ready to give up, but not Daryl who continued looking, risking life and limb in the process. Although when Sophia was eventually found she was already a walker, his dedication to finding her won him a friend for life in Sophia's mom, Carol.
6. Sometimes the world needs a little laughter
Living in a post-apocalyptic world must be pretty bleak, and when a much-loved member of your group dies it must get even bleaker. Lucky for us, even though Daryl is a man of few words, he makes them count. After Lori tragically died, Daryl managed to get a smile out of the group by suggesting they name baby Judith 'lil ass kicker.'
7. It's never too late to change
In episode 6 of Season 5 we saw one of the first times when Daryl has taken steps to heal from his rough childhood. While he and Carol spent the night at the temporary house facility he took the book 'Treat Survivors of Childhood Abuse' with him, proving it's never to late to start changing.
8. Riding a motorcycle with a crossbow on the back will always make you look like a badass
Case in point.
Is Daryl the best character on The Walking Dead?
