The Christmas holidays are well and truly over. The bad news is that this means we have less time to eat too much and binge watch our favorite TV shows. The good news is that, now we've officially caught up with (or re-watched!) the multitude of shows we cram into our lives, they're all about to dispatch brand new episodes. Late Christmas presents, if you like.

It's set to be another stellar year, with The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Arrow, and many, many more all returning.

To save you the hassle, I've compiled a list of some of our favorite shows and the dates they're set to hit our screens.

Gotham

It looks more and more likely that when Fox's Gotham returns, we're going to be introduced to a potential new love interest for James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) in Dr. Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin). Their first meeting was showcased in the midseason preview.

Air date: January 5

The Big Bang Theory

The show returns from the winter break with episode 12, dubbed as "The Space Probe Disintegration." Long-time roommates, Leonard and Sheldon, are forced to join their respective girlfriends for a spot of clothes shopping!

Air date: January 8

The Flash

No matter how good the special effects and action scenes are (and they are pretty awesome!) I'm drawn back to this series for its consistent emotional pay-offs. You really do get back what you put in to this show.

Air date: January 20.

Arrow

Is Oliver Queen dead? The trailer for the return suggests so (view it here) - but do we believe them?

Air date: January 21.

The Walking Dead

The "cure" was exposed as a lie, the church is overrun with walkers - things aren't looking great. For them that is, not us - we can't wait to see what happens next!

Air date: February 8

Game of Thrones

Yes! Game of Thrones will roar back into our lives in the coming months.

Last year, HBO treated us to a 15-minute program, "Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing", before the commencement of Season 4, which introduced new characters and story lines.

This year we have a special, 30 minute featurette! Don't miss it on HBO Sunday, 8 February at 7.30pm.

Air date: An air date has yet to be set for the fifth season but the series follows a pretty predictable filming/scheduling plan - Sunday, April 6 is a good shout.
