The festive season might have been a festival of overeating, boozing and relaxation, but it was definitely lacking a certain supernatural Je ne sais quoi...
Thankfully, [The Vampire Diaries](series:200853) is back with a vengeance in a couple of short weeks after the nail biting mid-season finale, and the impatient among us can already peruse the official synopsis to see what happens next!
Being the generous bunch they are, the crew behind the Mystic Falls magic has really given us something to sink our teeth into before the mid-season premiere. Read it with your own eager eyes below:
CONTROLLING YOUR MAGIC — More powerful than ever, Kai (guest star Chris Wood) holds Elena (Nina Dobrev) captive while he learns to control his newly acquired magic. At the Salvatore mansion, Liv (guest star Penelope Mitchell) and Alaric (Matt Davis) try to prepare Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O’Keefe) for the impending merge ceremony with Kai, but they quickly realize Jo is weaker than they thought. After bringing Sheriff Forbes (guest star Marguerite MacIntyre) home from the hospital, Caroline (Candice Accola) travels with Stefan (Paul Wesley) to North Carolina in search of a cure for her mother’s cancer. Meanwhile, Stefan, who has his own intentions for traveling to North Carolina, is caught off guard when Enzo (Michael Malarkey) shows up demanding to know what Stefan is hiding. Lastly, when Damon (Ian Somerhalder) discovers Elena has been kidnapped by Kai, he is forced to rethink his strategy after an unexpected visitor throws a wrench into his plan. Michael Trevino, Steven R. McQueen and Zach Roerig also star.
If the excitement was all a bit much to absorb that sizable chunk of Vampire Diaries goodness, let me break it down into a few events that we should expect to see this Thursday:
Elena Faces Pure Evil at the Hands of Kai
Elena is still being held captive by Kai, and I'm pretty sure that he is not the best person to be around as he tries to get a grip on the new magic he's acquired.
Damon to the Rescue?
Could Damon really be doing anything other than rescuing Elena considering the circumstances? The important question is: who is the unexpected visitor?
Jo is in training to defeat Kai in the magical merge battle of the century, but does she really stand a chance against him now that he's tapped into the Travelers powers? I have a feeling Alaric might be getting a feeling of severe foreboding when he realizes Jo "is weaker than they thought," and it would look careless for this dude to lose another girlfriend...
Sheriff Forbes Faces Her Biggest Battle Yet
I have a feeling that the only cure for Liz's cancer that Caroline can offer is a lot closer to home than North Carolina, if you get my drift...
Do Stefan's ulterior motives mean that the Steroline dream is dead? If he can't fully support Caroline in her darkest moments, surely these two wouldn't be such a great couple after all?
Which plot line are you most looking forward to seeing?
