Fallout 4's announcement or any release date information was assuredly the number one request on a lot of gamer's Christmas lists. Alas, as we've come to expect, it was not to be. Though December did bring us a small glimmer of hope, could 2015 finally be the year? And how horrible would it be if Fallout 4 was a PS4 or Xbox One exclusive?!
With 2014 behind us now, a year filled with the likes of faceless Assassins and continuous disappointments, the gaming community is eagerly awaiting the arrival of our saviour: 2015. The Order 1886, Evolve, The Witcher 3, Star Wars: Battlefront, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and so much more, demonstrate how the potential for quality gaming on the PS4 and Xbox One may finally be upon us. But the idea of Fallout 4 being on show brings 2015 to entirely new heights.
Fallout 4 Announcement News
You're probably all aware of the recent development with regards to Fallout 4 and Kotaku press agent Jason Schreier, but just in case you're not, let's take a quick look at what he had to say to a random reader on December 23rd. Bedameister was despairing about 2014 and hoping that next year would have some great surprises in store, "But who knows what will come", he said. To which, Schreier responded: "Fallout 4!"
He then goes on to say, "I hear we'll get an announcement in the next few months." This is the man who wrote the "Leaked Documents Reveal that Fallout 4 is Real, Set in Boston" article. Therefore, he seems to be an authority figure of sorts in terms of Fallout 4 at Kotaku. Could his statement indicate that Bethesda are gearing up to show off some Fallout 4 this year?!
Clearly, as this guy is a member of the press, he has some form of insight into Bethesda's work. The post has not been taken down or addressed, and it really makes me feel as if Bethesda are enjoying slowly trickling out information about this game and stating when and where certain individuals are allowed to release statements about the game's development.
Perhaps Bethesda have deals with people at Kotaku in order to help improve their numbers in terms of readership. Though of course, this could be just the Fallout-deprived-gamer in me talking, but developers have often had connections with different gaming publications, but imagine if they had a connection with Sony or Microsoft!
Fallout 4 on Xbox One or PS4
Rise of the Tomb Raider is the most recent example I can think of in terms exclusivity disappointment. Many Playstation fans are upset over the Microsoft console being the only to receive Square Enix's second instalment in their rebooted Tomb Raider franchise. But imagine if Fallout 4 came out under similar circumstances...
I'm sure that if Fallout 4 is in development, Sony and Microsoft had talks with Bethesda with regards to making the game an exclusive on their consoles. Imagine the revenue. The console that landed the release of Fallout 4 would see an astronomical increase in sales. Though they'd have to really sweeten the deal for Bethesda if they were to cut off a third of their potential income.
So what do you guys think about Schreier's comments on Fallout 4, and on a scale of one to ten, how furious would you be if Bethesda released Fallout 4 on a console you didn't own?! Let us know in the comments below!
