Channing Tatum took to Twitter yesterday and sent out the tweet:

"How do you say October 7, 2016 in Cajun?"

Well.....I can't answer that question but I'm pretty positive that means Tatum will be starring as Remy LeBeau aka Gambit in the 2016 "X-Men" spin off. Fox has announced that October 7th 2016 will be the release date for the now confirmed spin off movie. Gambit will presumably follow on from "[X-Men: Apocalypse](movie:1194267)" which releases earlier that year on May 27th 2016. Also releasing that same year is another "X-Men" spin off in the form of "[Deadpool](movie:38663)" starring Ryan Reynolds on February 12th 2016.

We have known for a while now that Channing Tatum has been cast for the role of Gambit, that was confirmed some months ago. I believe the real shocking news about this is that FOX will be putting out three X-Men movies within the space of 9 months! Not even MARVEL have put out three movies in one year before. There has not been any official word on whether or not "Deadpool" and "Gambit" will be crossing over with the other X-Men and sharing the larger team up films although it has been rumored that Gambit will appear in "X-Men Apocalypse".

Channing Tatum has evolved so much as an actor in the past couple of years, proving he has a natural talent for comedy (22 Jump Street), he can carry an action film (White House Down) and also that he's very effective in dramatic roles (Foxcatcher).

As a fan, Gambit has always been one of my favorite characters and I am really happy with Tatum in that role. I do believe Taylor Kitsch gets too much negativity for his portrayal of the character back in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", I actually thought he did a pretty good job, but Tatum has the build, he has the cockiness and he has been working on his Cajun accent.

I really respect FOX for going all out on this and having faith in characters like "Deadpool" and "Gambit", I personally can't wait for both! What about you guys? Are you excited about a "Gambit" movie or would you just like to see him feature in ensemble movies?
