It was previously announced that the upcoming sequel for this years Dawn of the Planet of the Apes would be coming in July 2016, but plans have changed over at Fox and they have announced that the film has been pushed back a full year and will now be releasing on July 14th, 2017.

No official reason has been given for the release being pushed but it's rumored that director Matt Reeves has requested extra time to develop and shoot the film.

If Reeves requesting extra time is the actual reason then I am completely on board for this change in release. Matt Reeves really did a fantastic job on Dawn and he deserves some time to develop the best possible sequel.

I highly recommend you go to YouTube and check out some interviews with Matt Reeves. He is really fascinated by and invested in the Planet of the Apes world. He really seems like a man with a vision for this franchise.

What do you guys think of the release date being changed? Are you happy Reeves has been given more time, or do you want another Apes movie as soon as possible?

Is the release date being pushed back for the better or for the worse?
