The Avengers star, Jeremy Renner, has revealed he is back in the Hawkeye costume after he uploaded a silhouetted image of the character to one of his social media accounts.
For which TV show or movie, however, he cannot say.
Posting on whosay, Renner uploaded the image (shown below) of the legendary marksmen, along with the caption:
"Tues morn. I find myself in costume again. I just can't tell you why. And it still fits! #marvel #avengers #hawkeye"
Of course, this is fantastic news, but the post has led to much speculation regarding which project Renner is working on, in part because there's a wealth of possible roles for Hawkeye in 2015.
Age of Ultron?
The most obvious of them is The Avengers: Age of Ultron, in which Renner would have a starring role. It was reported last month that director Joss Whedon had requested that he and some of the Avengers cast meet in January to re-shoot the action scenes for the movie. Renner was apparently one of the cast members that had to be on stand-by for Whedon's call. This would seem the most likely but there are other plausible explanations.
Agents of the S.H.I.E.L.D.?
For example, shooting for Marvel’s Agents of the S.H.I.E.L.D.'s second season is currently underway, and they might want Hawkeye to headline its penultimate or final episode. Plus, he's one of the few members without super abilities which means he's ideal for S.H.I.E.L.D.’s more realistic style. Whedon has also suggested that the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. storyline would follow directly into The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
A new Netflix series?
One final explanation is that Renner could possibly be filming scenes for a brand new TV series. If you remember, it was reported last year that Marvel Studios was developing four TV shows and a miniseries (a total of 60 potential episodes), based on individual Marvel characters, for the online streaming service Netflix. We know that this will begin in 2015 with Daredevil, and later with Jessica Jones. But Hawkeye? Potentially...
