When it comes to video game franchises, it can be difficult in our new console era to remain a fan of a series that we adored in our younger days. New expectations and the constant desire for studios to make games more accessible for everyone have diluted a lot of the greatest aspects of titles that blew our minds. But this is why it's great to be a fan of The Legend of Zelda.

With so many games over the years, and constant remastering of older titles for our DS devices, one is never short of some new Zelda content! But the extraordinary thing, is how Nintendo have maintained the quality of the series after over 25 years of following Link on his adventures. In recognition and celebration of this series, here are 3 reasons of why it's great to be a Zelda fan today!

1. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's mask is yet to receive it's release date for the 3DS, but we have been assured that we will see it sometime in Spring 2015, not too long now fans! Majora's Mask is definitely in the top 3 Zelda games of all time, right up there with A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time. It's certainly the darkest of the Zelda titles and was praised upon release, being hailed as 'The Empire Strikes Back' of Zelda games.

To be honest, I'll buy it just so I can hear "Excuuuuuuuse me, Princess!" This game is a sensation and the idea that I can dive into it on the train to work is mesmerising. Many a stop will be missed! And if you're a serious fan, then the 3DS bundle package is sure to excite you! Can you imagine if the Skull Kid was an AMIIBO as a way of also announcing a new Smash Bros character?!! A man can dream.

2. The Legend of Zelda for Wii U

I still can't get over the childish delight on Eiji Aonuma's face as he unveiled the open world behind him at E3. And then the VGA awards was an even further delight as he sat there with Shigeru Miyamoto demonstrating the beautiful world they've created (and then there was the added bonus of another Starfox getting a rough date mentioned too!!).

The world reminds me of Shadow of the Colossus as you ride through it with Epona (now the smartest horse in video game history as she dodges trees). I'm genuinely thrilled to see how it looks on the Wii U, it really can't arrive fast enough!

3. The Music

Being an avid lover of music and almost any genre you can imagine, the evolution of the music of Zelda has been inspiring and joyful to behold. From the original title to the joys of Twilight Princess & Skyward Sword, it has always been a pleasure to explore these lands and bathe in the glory of its music.
