James Wan is back, and he's got another terrifying premise up his sleeve following the success of [The Conjuring](movie:600664) and [Annabelle](movie:1217914).

With [Demonic](movie:323727) coming out this year, this time his story is combining elements of found footage movies with the tried and true "friends have a seance that goes awry" narrative. Based on the trailer, we are in for quite a few jumpy scares along with psychological questions of who actually committed a mass murder.

For fans of contemporary horror and Wan, this is a must-see. If you're in the mood for a couple freak-outs, check out the new trailer below:

Read on for a breakdown of the trailer!

In typical teenage fashion, a group of college friends decide to perform a seance

They hoping to open the gate between our world and the spirit world, and let's just say they are unprepared for the result.

For proof, they're trying to capture the spirits on film

Hence the heat sensing camera setting.

They get a little more than they bargained for

And five of them end up dying at the hands of the house.

John (Dustin Milligan) seems to be the only survivor

And naturally becomes the primary suspect. He also has some kind of clairvoyant connection to the spirit, which will certainly come into play.

Dr. Elizabeth Klein (Maria Bello) is tasked with solving the case

Her rational, by-the-book type will have to come face to face with some otherworldly experiences before she gets out of this.

Using their camera equipment, the group of friends captured some chilling images

Providing plenty of confusing evidence for the detectives to study, but will it be enough to make them believe?

Among the freaky images that the ghosts conjure up in the house, there is this:

I don't know what the heck this is—I'm oscillating between a dress and floating innards—but it's freaking me out. Kudos to anyone who can figure this out and stop the creepy possibilities from floating through my mind.

I'm still a little fuzzy on the exact chronology of Demonic's events, so I'll be on the lookout for a second trailer coming out soon! Still no word on an exact release date, but did this trailer get you hooked?
