Liam Neeson, who played the role of Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, has said "it would be terrific" to return to the Star Wars franchise.
While speaking to Yahoo Movies before the release of his new film, Taken 3, Neeson was asked whether he would like to feature in Star Wars again, he replied:
“Yeah, I’d say so. Yeah, that would be terrific. I certainly loved shooting the prequel (‘Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace’) but that was many years ago now.”
Qui-Gonn Jinn was, of course, killed at the hands of Darth Maul during The Phantom Menance but that doesn't necessarily rule out a return for Neeson.
Neeson said, “I don’t know (what role he could play), unless you went back in time or he becomes a hologram or something,” he continued, “But he’s a Jedi, anything could happen, it’s Star Wars world!”
But Neeson wasn't exactly enthusiastic about every aspect of the upcoming Star Wars flick, Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens. “I had a couple of worries about that lightsaber. I thought if it comes in (towards the body) and is close to you, it’s like having a jet of (burning) fluid hitting your clothes and your skin, but I’m sure they’ve thought that out,” Neeson said.
