After examining what Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev were up to before they became the sexiest vampires around, the time has finally come for the youngest Salvatore brother to have his place in the spotlight!
Paul Wesley is the last member of the holy trio to have his past shaken out in the Moviepilot way, but I can assure you these articles weren't arranged in an order of preference!
So, without further ado, let's time travel to the not so distant past and see what Paul was up to before he waltzed into Mystic Falls high school.
Pint Sized Paul
Paul Wesley was born in New Jersey to Polish parents back in 1982. His real name is actually Paul Wasilewski, but he changed it to more Americanized Wesley to help his acting career.
Wesley attended Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, New Jersey and Marlboro High School for his high school years.
The young Wesley was expelled from his first high school for fighting, but he claims that being introduced to theater gave him a creative sphere to channel his excess energy and get him on the straight and narrow.
Wesley's passion for acting really worked out for him in a big way and the star was cast in the TV Soap Opera Another World as Sean McKinnon back in 1999. He was just 17-years-old at the time.
Another World didn't last much longer after Wesely joined the cast (it had been running since 1964 after all!), but the young actor didn't wait long to scoop up another role.
Wesley worked on Guiding Light as Max Nickerson between 1999 and 2001 before going on to land guest spots in other TV shows such as Wolf Lake, American Dreams, Smallville and The O.C.
The TV Movie Days
Between the years of 2001 and 2003, Wesley starred in three TV movies before he had his first break onto the big screen.
Serious Wesley enthusiasts can look out for him in Shot In the Heart, Young Arthur and The Edge.
Big Screen, Big Break
Paul Wesley made his big screen debut with a small role in The Last Run in 2004 and I really hope he got more screen time than in the 11 second clip above!
Wesley got to sink his eager teeth into a comedic roll in 2005's Roll Bounce which centers around the competitive roller disco circuit. He also got to wear some tight white shirts which I'm sure you will all appreciate.
Paul's next big success was the TV movie Fallen which finally gave him the leading role he deserved.
The movie was so popular that it launched a TV mini-series where Wesley reprised his role as Aaron Corbett.
Wesley's next meaty role was Logan Atwater in Army Wives between 2008 and 2009, and he looks pretty damned fine in uniform!
The Vampire Diaries
In 2009, Paul Wesley landed the role that we all know and love him for as the sizzling Stephan Salvatore and one of the hunkiest vampire in history was born. Hurrah!
