It has been in the shadows for years. And we finally are getting Marvel's tiniest hero ever: Ant-Man. Now this is my debut in my First Look series here. And be on the lookout for my first look in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Originally, this film was to be directed by Edgar Wright, who worked for years in developing the film. But in May 2014, he left the project and took a hiatus from the media. Then people began to ask 'Will the film be able to meet its release in July 2015?' Enter Peyton Reed, who reluctantly stepped up to take Wright's place as director. It was in the filming process for several months and has wrapped up not too long ago. Now in post-production, Ant-Man is set for release in July 2015 and will be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now this Marvel film was originally to start Marvel Phase 3. But it got pushed back into the Marvel Phase 2 slate that was originally supposed to close out with Avengers: Age of Ultron. So it's Avengers Age of Ultron first and then Phase 2 is expected to conclude with this film.
Now looking at the cast here, Ant-Man is expected to have an ensemble cast. The lead roles in this film will be done by Paul Rudd (Anchorman; Anchorman 2) as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Michael Douglas as the original Ant-Man Hank Pym, Evangeline Lilly (The Hobbit) as Pym's daughter Hope Van Dyne and Corey Stoll as the main antagonist Darren Cross/Yellowjacket.
The film's official synopsis is as follows:
Armed with a super suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, former convict Scott Lang has to embrace his inner hero and work to help his mentor Dr. Hank Pym in a heist to pull off in order to save the world.
Now looking at this film overall, it looks like Marvel is taking us to it's smaller roots with it's smallest hero. I believe that Marvel will continue to deliver us with such amazing aspects of storytelling with its heroes.
