Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars, Divergent) joins Chloë Grace Moretz (If I Stay, Kick-Ass) in the film adaptation of Sam Munson's novel, The November Criminals. The two starred together in the 2013 horror-remake of Carrie.
The film will follow high school senior, Addison Schacht (Elgort), who has a lot of preoccupations. Like getting into college. Selling drugs to his classmates. His complicated relationship with his best friend (NOT his girlfriend) Digger (Moretz). And he’s just added another to the list: the murder of his classmate Kevin Broadus, and his own absurd, obsessive plan to investigate the death. When presented with an essay question on his application to the University of Chicago—What are your best and worst qualities?—Addison finds himself provoked into giving his final, unapologetic say about all of the above and more.
Ara Keshishian, President of Lotus Entertainment, said:
“This is a beautiful love story between two teenagers set against the backdrop of a murder mystery. It’s thrilling to have an amazing cast taking shape.”
The film will be directed by Sacha Gervasi (Hitchcock) and Steven Knight (Locke, Eastern Promises) adapted the script from Sam Munson’s 2011 novel. Catherine Keener will also star.
