We know that in the 90's, Marvel was pretty much going bankrupt, and the way to grab a quick buck, was to sell off some of the movie rights to characters such as Spider-Man (went to Sony), X-Men, Daredevil, Fantastic Four etc. (went to FOX) and Namor (went to Universal). If you've been following the story of Sony being hacked in December and information being leaked regarding Spider-Man in the MCU (Spidey Summit is this month, so we'll hear news regarding the character in The MCU then). So, if Sony can work out a deal, why is FOX incapable of doing so? Maybe it's just that they've made a profit from X-Men since 2000 that they don't want to give up the rights. But as we've seen with Sony and Spider-Man, Marvel Studios just wants to put the character in their cinematic universe to please fans, and because he's literally the mascot of the company, but they want to make it fair to Sony by not forcing them to give up the rights, but instead working out a deal so they both make a profit and walk away happy. The man stopping this? Avi Arad. So, if Sony is working a deal out with Marvel, is it a thin possibility that deep behind the scenes, FOX and Marvel are discussing putting the X-Men in the MCU without having to give up the rights? I doubt it, but if I'm wrong, there IS a theory I have put together that shows how The X-Men can be thrown into The MCU before Infinity War takes place.
Deadpool & Doctor Strange
So, the way to bring a bit of light hearted and frankly stupid humour into The MCU is to have Deadpool. Picture him alongside The Avengers and X-Men fighting Thanos. That'd be awesome! So, how do we set him up for that? Well, FOX is making the Deadpool movie to try and make up for Origins: Wolverine, and plus, ever since the test footage was shown at Comic Con last year, fans have been asking them to make a Deadpool movie. So they are. But there is one character that we're just going to call comic relief despite that being Deadpool's thing until we realise what he actually does to make Infinity War with The X-Men possible.
That's right. Bob The HYDRA Agent. At this point in the MCU, HYDRA is very important to the story. As we found out in The Winter Soldier's after credits scene, Von Strucker and the remainder of HYDRA are going to be responsible for Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch, who, judging in the trailer, have a connection to Ultron. Maybe he frees them? But if Bob is to be in Deadpool, when The X&FFCU (X-Men and Fantastic Four Cinematic Universe, neat right?) hasn't mentionSed HYDRA at all in their movies? The answer, is time and multiverse travel. How will that be possible. Doctor Strange! That movie could potentially introduce what I like to call 'Universe Hopping', so what if Bob is just a test subject for HYDRA's 'Universe Hopping' program and ends up in The X&FFCU? How does HYDRA make the 'Universe Hopping' program happen? Well, they could potentially capture Stephen Strange in his own movie when he has just got his powers, and force him to be the one that can make Bob go to another universe. And pop, whilst Deadpool's slicing off heads and making quirky one-liners, Bob just appears out of nowhere. Then, the sideplot of the movie can be Deadpool trying to help Bob get back to his own universe, whilst he can be trying to kill Taskmaster for putting a bounty on his head or something along those lines. So, what happens to prevent Bob from getting back? Stephen Strange escaped once Bob entered the X&FFCU. By the end of the film, Bob decides to stay with Deadpool after they become close friends, and Taskmaster? He escapes to the universe where Bob came from.
So, the real part where Apocalypse ties in is at the ending. I assume that everyone would have defeated Apocalypse and it would have kicked ass and everybody loves it. So, how do you get fans to scream in delight on opening night? Well, at the end of the movie, when the X-Men including Deadpool and Gambit are all united at the academy again, you have Charles Xavier there telling them he's made communications with 'a world much like ours in another universe'. Then he opens the portal, they all step through, and get separated. One half of the group ends up in Stark Tower with Iron Man and the government supporters (because of Civil War coming out at that time), and the other half ends up on The Helicarrier with Captain America and the resistance supporters. So, for Captain America Civil War, not only do we potentially have Spider-Man showing up being portrayed by a new actor, we have The X-Men showing up to face off against each other WITH Captain America and Iron Man! And, if you think about it, Banner is against the government because they've been chasing him down, but Wolverine could end up on Iron Man's side, meaning HULK VS WOLVERINE!!! So, Civil War pretty much gives Marvel, Sony and Fox ALL the dosh they need to make Infinity War, the Spider-Man reboot (I'll call it Web of Spider-Man) and other X-Men movie (probably where they're back in their own universe). So, by Infinity War, when The Guardians are on Earth in Part One and tell everyone that Thanos is coming to pretty much OBLITERATE Earth with The Infinity Gauntlet, Quill can say that motivational speech from the first Guardians movie where he tells everyone that if they're going to save Earth and the rest of the galaxy, they're going to have to do it together. So, once Thanos is taken down by Infinity War Part Two, X-Men go back to their universe, Cap and Stark forgive and forget, Spider-Man goes to appear in the sequel to his reboot movie and The Guardians head back into the cosmos for a third movie.
