30 years after the events of 'The Evil Dead', Ash is a loner, living a dull existence, still not able to come to grips with the events that started at the cabin. In the event of a deadite invasion Ash must attach his chainsaw and pick up his trusty boomstick one more time, all while finally coming to terms with his past.
On the 11th of November last year, 'Starz' network was given approval to air 10 episodes of their new TV show 'Ash VS Evil Dead' in the later half of 2015. The show doesn't have its full cast as of yet, but B movie legend Bruce Campbell will definitely be returning to play his classic character 'Ashley James Williams'. Original Evil Dead director Sam Raimi is also going to be playing a big role in the series, as he comes back once more to direct.
From 'Starz' head Chris Albrecht:
“We are shooting it in New Zealand. We’ll have to import some cars that drive left-hand and import some signs because it kind of takes place in classic American towns or cities. Rob Tapert, who is the heart and soul of that hands-on producing team, makes his home there and we shot “Spartacus” there and there are great production teams there. We’re looking forward to being down there and flying talent back and forth.”
The series will reunite director Sam Raimi, executive producer Rob Tapert, and of course Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell, and will be home to 30 minute long episodes, apposed to the hour long episodes that many have assumed. Though this may disappoint fans of the long running 'Evil Dead' series, Albrecht has said this: “The half-hour idea was their idea. And I can tell you it’s a chock-full half hour.”
Ash VS Evil Dead will be making it's debut in the later months of 2015, so will YOU be checking it out?
