It's a sad time for TVD fans, our favorite vampire hunter is leaving Mystic Falls.
After surviving death a countless number of times, Jeremy Gilbert will be leaving The Vampire Diaries for good this time. As of episode 14 of Season 6, Jeremy Gilbert will no longer be a main character on The Vampire Diaries. Julie Plec said in an interview with EW:
“It’s time for him to go out and live his life and we’re actually going to say goodbye to Steven R. McQueen as a series regular.”
I guess we should at least be thankful that Jeremy isn't going to be killed off. “He’s growing up and moving on. He will be out living a real life.” Since the show is eventually coming to an end Julie decided it's best Jeremy moves on with his life, like she said “Everything that we’re doing is moving towards the end."
After six seasons it is going to be extremely hard to say goodbye to Jeremy, and even harder to say goodbye to Steven. In the past six seasons alone Jeremy has gone from stoner kid to loner to ghost whisperer to hunter to just plain old human.
Saying goodbye to Jeremy means the end of some really amazing relationships on the show.
"Over the course of the next few years, we will need to start having the characters make choices about what they want with their lives and say goodbye to some people. It’s all part of moving toward the end, however long that takes,” Julie added.
Firstly, we have Jeremy and Elena.
Since basically every single parental figure they had died (although one did come back to life) Jeremy and Elena are not your average brother sister relationship. The two have been through hell together, and still they come out stronger than ever.
Jeremy and Matt
Nothing beats a good bromance and these two are one of the cutest ones on the show.
Jeremy and Damon
Although this so called friendship started with Damon breaking Jeremy's neck, their relationship has evolved a lot since Season 1, especially in Season 5. It's a shame we're not gonna see more of it.
Last but most certainly not least, Jeremy and Bonnie
Bonnie and Jeremy are one of the best couples on The Vampire Diaries, despite breaking up and both of them dying (more than once) they still found their way back to each other. No longer seeing Beremy on TVD is going to break a lot of hearts, including mine.
What else we'll be missing
No more Jeremy means we won't be seeing Steven R. McQueen's gorgeous body on The Vampire Diaries. (Sorry I couldn't resist)
Although Steven isn't going to be a series regular anymore, Julie Plec has said that we will definitely see Jeremy again: “He could show up at weddings, funerals and series finales for sure, but this journey is taking him to another place.” Here's hoping someone will get married soon on TVD.
We've still got the memories!
I remember how devastated the entire TVD family was after Jeremy died in Season 4, although we're used to seeing Jeremy leave or die, saying goodbye to him for good is not going to be easy that's for sure. But let's be sure to remember all the awesome and epic moments on The Vampire Diaries that were thanks to Steven R. McQueen.
I think I speak for every single TVD fan out there when I say, Steven R. McQueen, you will be terribly, terribly missed.
Jeremy Gilbert may be leaving but he will be in our hearts, always.
