In fandom 'shipping' is "the act of imagining two fictional characters in a romantic relationship that is not confirmed canon." Or basically, pairing together any two characters you think might be an awesome power couple, even if the suggestion might sound crazy in relation to where we normally see those characters.

Shipping has been a part of fandom for awhile now, and there have been countless interesting, confusing and awesome pairings matched up over that time. Some talented artists have even turned those ships into works of art so good that even if 'shipping' isn't your thing, you've still got to admit the artwork behind it is all kinds of awesome:

Jack Frost and Elsa = Jelsa

When two icy hearts meet it must be love at first blue-eyed sight! Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians and Elsa of Frozen fame are surely a couple that's just waiting to happen.

Thorin and Bilbo = Thilbo

It's a lonely road to the Lonely Mountain, and who knows what might happen along the way. However, everyone knows what happens in Erebor, stays in Erebor.

Hades and Maleficent = Malades

The perfect Disney villain couple, complete with fabulous head pieces!

Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy = Drarry

Harry Potter fans are notorious shippers, matching up a huge number of unlikely duos, though Harry and Malfoy have to be one of the most unusual! I guess their hatred throughout the book could just be pent up sexual frustration? Either way the artwork is still pretty cool, I love the inclusion of Malfoy's Dark Mark just peaking out of his shirt sleeve.

Maleficent and Jafar = Jaleficent

I couldn't resist putting another Maleficent one in here! Maleficent and Jafar would be another dream villain couple, don't you think?

Margaery Tyrell and Sansa Stark = Sansaery

The two [Game of Thrones](movie:817617) gals taking things to the next level. I guess in Westeros you never know when your time might be up, better live in the moment!

Steve Rogers and Tony Stark = Stony

I had no idea that Steve Rogers (a.k.a. Captain America) and Tony Stark (a.k.a. Iron Man) had such a huge fan base as a couple! There is even a subgenre of Stony fan art called Superfamily art, where Cap and Iron Man are raising Peter Parker as their son!! You can check it out here.

Mario and Sonic = Manic

Well, I'll never be able to look at my copy of Smash Bros the same again, but whatever you're into guys, that's cool!

Rocket and Groot = Grocket

Aw, this is one is the sweetest. Rocket and Groot are probably the best duo to have come out of 2014, their relationship is unlikely but somehow totally works. I totally ship Grocket!
