Star Wars: Battlefront is yet to receive its official release date for Xbox One, PC and PS4. DICE and EA are busy at work at creating the game that so many fans of the series have been waiting for. There have been a great deal of shifts in the video game industry as of late concerning FPSs, but will Star Wars Battlefront 3 be following Titanfall for its heroes?
Modern shooters have changed a great deal, though in many ways they're just catching up on Halo's transformations years before them. But that's for another day. Star Wars: Battlefront is to be DICE's biggest FPS of next year, so are they going to give us more of what we've seen with Battlefield or are we getting some new changes?
Star Wars: Battlefront, Advanced Warfare & Titanfall
So, if DICE were to follow the model that is presented by Titanfall, every player would be granted the opportunity to play as a hero during a match at some point as it's placed on a timer. This would even out the playing field and allow for every player to get a chance of experiencing online play with a lightsaber in hand. Naturally though, there are many different forms that DICE could employ.
For example, the hero could be attained after the player racks up a certain amount of points. Think Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's killstreak formula. This situation could lead to the opportunity to have two players as heroes simultaneously in one match. Naturally, this will have serious ramifications for every other player on the map, so perhaps there should be a one hero limit?
Star Wars: Battlefront 3 is guaranteed to have heroes, if they didn't, there would be outrage. Can you imagine if all of the heroes actually appeared as DLC after the initial release of the game??!!??!?! Sorry, got emotional there...
It'll be a difficult challenge for DICE to balance the powers of the hero. Will they be placed on a timer? Or will it be the situation that they need to make kills in order to keep their life bar full? One thing that we don't want to start happening in the game is camping.
Therefore, if the hero was attained by racking up kills, it would force players to get out of their hiding spots and jump into the battle. If it was merely on a timer, camping could become a regular part of the multiplayer until the player's chance arrives. Not an ideal situation.
Some players have stated that they feel heroes should be left to the singleplayer campaign and not implemented online. Personally, I'd love to see DICE make them work. I feel like it could be one of my favourite online games if they get it right!
So what do you guys think? How would you like Star Wars: Battlefront 3's online to look in terms of heroes on its release date for Xbox One, PC & PS4? ARe you inclined to follow the Titanfall model or Advanced Warfare's? Let us know in the comments!
