I recently came across an illustrated portrait of Mathilda from Luc Besson's Léon done up in Japanese anime/manga style, but didn't bother to find out who the artist was. What a terrible decision!

I wasn't sure how or where I saw the portrait initially, but using the power of Google to find the source, I ended up at the Deviant Art page of Russian born illustrator Ilya Kuvshinov. Not only did I find the Mathilda illustration, I also found a treasure trove of awesome; His profile is a literal goldmine! Naturally, I'm quite partial to his movie character portraits. Check them out!

Rachel from Blade Runner

I never figured I'd ever see a portrait of Sean Young from Blade Runner drawn up in a way that resonates with my inner anime nerd. This scene; it's so moody, I love it.

Mathilda from Léon

This was the illustration that I had come across which started my searching endeavor! Kuvshinov captures the vulnerability of Natalie Portman's performance perfectly, specifically from that scene. Just wow.

Amélie from Amélie

Another one of my favorite movies, the quirkiness of Audrey Tautou manages to come through here in spades. I think it's the eyes and that sweet yet devious looking smirk.

Mystique in X-Men: Days of Future Past

I don't have much to say about this one other than J-Law as Mystique illustrated in anime style is making my heart sing.

Hermione from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

There's way too much smug cuteness in this illustration of First Year Hermione Granger for me to handle. I kind of wish a Harry Potter anime existed now...oh wait, why isn't THIS REAL?!

Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones

Ok, not a movie character, but had to include this illustration of Khaleesi, Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains, for two reasons: 1) Daenerys owns, and 2) Emilia Clarke owns.

To round out these awesome anime-style character portraits, here are illustrations of actual anime characters Nausicaä from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and San from Princess Mononoke, two of my favorite characters from two awesome films.
