In case you've been living on one of Jupiter's Moons and haven't heard the news, -According to Latino Review, "The deal is done and Spider-Man will join the Avengers on screen for (Avengers: Infinity War part 1 & 2) but adds the Avengers will be significantly different to the superhero team the world has come to love."
As "Amazing" as this seems (gotta get those Spider puns in there,) Sony will allow Spider-Man to be in Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War (Part 1 & 2) However, (you knew there was a catch right?) Andrew Garfield will NOT be playing everybody's favorite wall crawler. Marvel Studios will be portraying a completely new version of Spider-Man that will be different from Sony's "Amazing Spider-Man" & the previous "Spider-Man" franchise. Maybe he will be "Spectacular" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
What age will Spider-Man/Peter Parker be? One thing's for sure, I don't need to see another origin story at this point. I think we all get it by now that Peter was bitten by a radioactive spider and gained spider-powers as a result. I DO NOT need to see Uncle Ben die a third time nor do I need to see Peter graduate from High School again.
Let's cover some new ground with this new incarnation of Spider-Man. Maybe he can be older (late 20's early 30's) and a College Professor? Peter Parker in the later years of his comic book was married to Mary Jane and had a daughter. Maybe we can see the future Spider-Girl as a toddler? I'm just saying let's not re-hash the same old Spider-Man stories again. We've seen the Green Goblin enough times to warrant never seeing him again. As for more than one villain per movie? Bad Idea. Pick One Villain and Focus the story on them (kind of like they almost did with Electro until the last 15 minutes of the film.)
Now that I've gotten those few points out of the way, Here's a few actors that I'd like to see as the new Spider-Man.
1. Drake Bell.
Drake seems like a natural choice for me since He has already been the voice of Ultimate Spider-Man and is an Actor that has worked for Disney since he was a kid. He's 28, so he's in that age bracket I'd like them to portray Spider-Man at. He might have to hit the gym to get into superhero shape but Spidey's always had a slim physique anyway.
2. Daniel Radcliffe.
Yes, that's right Harry Potter. Daniel is age 25 so he's in that age window I'm thinking of for Spider-Man. At 5 foot 5 inches he's the right height for Spidey and he can definitely Act.
3. Logan Lerman.
Logan's the youngest of my choices. At 22, he would be a College Senior at Empire State but I'm OK with that. He's got the right look and at 5 ft 9 inches, he's not too tall to be Spidey. He would be a long term prospect for Marvel Studios, able to portray the Wall Crawler for at least 10 years (maybe a six picture deal?)
4. Dylan O'Brian
The Maze Runner Star is close to the same age as Logan Lerman (he's 23.) So, we are looking at a College Graduate age Peter Parker here and that works for me. He's got the geeky Science Nerd vibe going so I think we're good if he lands the role. At 5' 11" he's still 4 inches shorter than Chris Evans so that works too.
So there you go- These are my choices for a new "Spectacular Spider-Man."
