While speaking with me recently, "Painkiller Jane" co-creator Jimmy Palmiotto elaborated on how he first met the "Twisted Twins", Jen and Sylvia Soska - and knew immediately that they were the perfect pair to direct the upcoming big-screen adaptation of his character:
"I met them over a dinner one night thrown by my friend Ken Levin and fell in love with them as just people", says Palmiotti, who is co-writing the "Painkiller jane" screenplay.. "I saw a lot of myself in them. They had a passion and a sense of humor and above all, a real sense of who they are and their part in the world. They impressed me right away, even before I saw a minute of their work."
"After the meeting, I ordered their films and watched them with Amanda (Conner, Palmiotti's wife) and they have true talent", Palmiotti continued. "Watching 'American Mary' (one of the Soskas' most well-received films) was like watching the beginning stages of a film director like a Hitchcock or Carpenter."
"Their sense of timing, style and passion comes through in their projects", Palmiotti added.. "When we were talking directors, I mentioned them and they happen to have approached Stephen (L'Heureux, of Solipist Films, which did "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For") separately. After a few phone calls, we got it together and now on to the next stages!"
"I couldn't be happier with them", Palmiotti concluded. "They enjoyed the screenplay and got the atmosphere and energy I was looking for with the project."
"Painkiller Jane" is set to hit theaters in late 2015 or early 2016.
