Tom Hardy No Longer Playing Rick Flag!

To my dismay, the THR / The Wrap has reported that Tom Hardy, one of the many A-list actors who was lined up to star in Warner Bros. and DC's Suicide Squad has had to bail out of the film.

Apparently, the site reports that Tom Hardy's shooting schedule was too filled up as he already had committed to his western thriller, The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and although the film is supposed to be released on Christmas Day of 2015, shooting for the film has gone over schedule. This, on top of the fact that he has some promotional duties for his summer blockbuster, Mad Max: Fury Road, has caused him to have no availability to shoot the 2016 DC Comics' adaptation.

Warner Bros. Eyeing Replacement Already!

With shooting supposed to begin in April of this year, it makes sense that Warner Bros. wants to get the ball rolling on this as soon as possible. Rick Flag is essential to the Suicide Squad if they are basing the film after the John Ostrander run from the 80's.

Apparently, the rumor is that Warner Bros. is courting none other than Jake Gyllenhaal to play the leader of the Squad.

This would be not be a surprise considering that Gyllenhaal has previously worked with Suicide Squad director, David Ayer, before in the 2012 film End of Watch.

Warner Bros. has not made a comment at this time regarding any of this so it'll be interesting to see what comes out of all this.

I'm upset to see Hardy leave this film. How about you guys?
