Over the past year, there've been few rumors more persistent - or, for me at least, over-excitement inducing - than those surrounding Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.
After all, it's A NEW STAR WARS MOVIE. How could you ever beat that?
The thing is, though - there's one rumor from the Star Wars set that has a little more resonance than the rest. Sure, the questions surrounding Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, or John Boyega's roles are fascinating - and sure, I want to know what the heck is going on with that new lightsaber - but there's still very much one rumor to rule them all...
Yup, that's right - the question of whether or not Darth Vader will return - amid rumors that he definitely will.
And, now, we might just have a pretty conclusive answer - one that's come from a kind of unlikely source...
An Ewok Just Revealed that Darth Vader IS in Episode 7
Or, rather, Warwick Davis, better known as the Ewok Wicket in Return of the Jedi, totally just did...
During his recent appearance on the UK's The One Show, Davis kept pretty tight-lipped about his role in the upcoming movie, and about any plot details he might know.
What he did share, though, were two selfies from on set at Pinewood Studios.
The first was pretty awesome...
But, ultimately, didn't tell us anything we didn't already know, since Peter Mayhew has long since been confirmed to be playing Chewbacca in the movie.
Davis' next selfie, though, was a little more...surprising...
Because yes, that does indeed very much seem to be Darth Vader.
On the set of Star Wars Episode VII.
Totally still existing, and appearing on screen. In 2015.
And, no, that sound you just heard wasn't the sound of a thousand voices crying out, and then suddenly being silenced. That was just everyone at Moviepilot cheering their asses off.
The big question now, though?
How will Darth Vader actually appear?
I mean, after all - he's pretty darned dead...
Well, it seems to me there are three main possibilities:
1. Darth Vader isn't dead after all
Which, while good news for Hayden Christensen, would also - I suspect - bug the hell out of pretty much every single Star Wars fan in the world.
2. Darth Vader will appear in flashbacks
Which, to be honest, I'm all in favor of - and, since they've been rumored for a while now, it's not too outside the box an idea.
3. Darth Vader won't appear - but his armor will
After all - we didn't hear James Earl Jones' dulcet tones - and the actor has previously stated that he won't be appearing in Episode VII. Could we instead be set to see another character don the Sith Lord's iconic armor?
No matter what, though, it now seems a whole lot more likely that we will, in fact, actually see Darth Vader on screen again...
What do you guys think, though?
How will we see Darth Vader appear?
