Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain becomes more and more unusual as it nears its hidden release date for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. Such is the way of the man that is Hideo Kojima. Every other week we receive dribs and drabs of information regarding the quirky updates and bizarre inclusions that the man is giving us in MGS5.
Hideo Kojima has spoken out about his fear that the all round awesomeness of GTA 5 may affect how his fans look at the upcoming Snake adventure. He has promised a great deal with MGS 5, but have our expectations for games been affected by Rockstar's remarkable masterpiece? Well, according to Troy Baker, this game is going to put Skyrim's world to shame on its release date...oh wow.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - Kojima Fears GTA 5
A while back, Hideo Kojima was supposedly floored by the remarkable way in which Rockstar put their game, GTA 5 together. He stated that it was really incredible and that they were continuing to advance the gaming industry as a whole. He felt that his Metal Gear Solid V couldn't live up to the expectations with such a title in existence.
Now GTA 5 has been remastered and has become even better than when he last commented on the title. But then, isn't that kind of a harsh comparison that he put upon himself with the two games? They are wildly different in terms of genre and the open world dynamic present in MGS 5 is not supposed to rival with GTA V. It's a completely different kind of world and experience.
Never the less, I feel that Rockstar may have actually inadvertently impacted upon the development of Metal Gear Solid V by raising Kojima's own expectations when it comes to what we should be getting out of an open world adventure. I mean the man is a genius, of course he could do everything we want with MGS5 and more, but that added pressure may have had him include a lot more in this game then he'd anticipated. Which may be a contributing factor to why we still have no release date for the game.
Some of the crazy things that we've been hearing are that we'll be able to wear a chicken hat, that we'll have to hire soldiers who speak different languages in order to interrogate foreign enemies we capture and NOW we may actually be getting the chance to play as Snake's one-eyed companion Wolf!
In the code of the PC version of [Metal Gear Solid](movie:593264) 5: Ground Zeroes, someone uncovered a file detailing the controls for the PC when we play as the Wolf. These included barking (two types of barks actually), running, crawling, attacking and so forth. So we may be actually running around a giant sandbox as a wolf with an eyepatch! I mean...I just love this man!
So what do you think? Do you think GTA V had an affect on MGS5? Should Kojima relax? I mean, he's never disappointed us before! And will we actually be playing as a wolf? God, I hope so!!
