Barney disbands the old expendables team and assembles a new team with new blood for a personal battle: to take down Conrad Stonebanks, the Expendables co-founder and notorious arms trader who is hell bent on wiping out Barney and every single one of his associates.
Let me start with the bad; the story is flat and it probably looked good on paper, the C.G is horrible and at times looks really bad. Having a new younger crew gives a chance for a younger generation to shine, but I felt no connection to them and I didn't care about them. It was like watching the expendables version of Saved by the Bell with Sylvester Stallone as Mr. Belding.
The new legendary additions to the cast are what kept me watching. Wesley Snipes plays this crazy knife wielder, opposite to Jason Statham and they work really well together. I said it once and I know it won't be the last time, Mel Gibson plays one hell of a bad guy and you can't get enough. I felt like we didn't get to know Harrison Ford’s and Kelsey Grammer’s characters all too well but it was nice to see them join this franchise. The one person who stole this movie was Antonio Banderas, his character is just crazy, energetic and all around funny, you can't get enough of him.
This movie isn't any different than the last two films, but I find that this movie was funnier. It seemed like they were poking fun at themselves and their famous one liners. Even with crappy C.G. the action scenes are over the top and adrenalin pumping. If you’re a fan of the last two this one maybe a bit of a disappointment but I feel like it will be a stepping stone to the already announced fourth movie. Love them or hate them the Expendables are here to stay.
Cheers and remember life won’t suck as long as there is a good movie to watch
