A group of mutated warriors face off against an evil kingpin who wants to take over New York.
Well it wasn't as bad as the first transformers movie. As ugly as the turtles are, as the movie goes on you do forget about their noses. This movie is high action and over the top but the studio gave away everything in the trailers; the action is fun but becomes long and winded.
I loved the intro to this movie, it looked like watching the comics by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. From time to time I did have a light laugh but I feel like this movie is more focused on April O'Neil than the turtles. I was sad that I felt no connections to the characters; it was like they were banking on my childhood connection with these turtles. They do have some homage to the classic turtles which I enjoyed. The movie is full of really dumb loopholes that really bugged me, like why didn’t April show her boss the photos on her phone to save her job but she showed Sacks the photo! One that bugged me was that the turtles are built like trucks and they can’t get through a pipe together but they can go down a man hole and all 4 turtles can fit in a news van. A small loophole is that when April is a little girl and she’s recording the turtles she had an HD camera with Bluetooth!?!? But that’s little stuff.
I felt like they pushed Michelangelo to be the main focus of the turtles. Mostly for the little kids but I found him annoying by the end of the movie. I didn't like how Donatello had nerd glasses but I did like how he could hack and use gadgets unlike in other movies. I would have liked to see more of a build up to Shedder’s mega suit instead of him just in it. The cast was ok; there was no reason to hire Whoopi Goldberg for such a small roll. Megan Fox did better than her acting in transformers but they should have found someone with more depth. Will Arnett’s character is a goofier version of Vernon Fenwick unlike the jerk like character in the cartoons but he didn’t do a bad job.
Even though I have a list of stuff I didn't like, I did enjoy this movie it was fast paced, had some light laughs and goofiness and if I was a kid this would have been the best thing ever. I'm 27 and I grew up at the hype of the turtles and sure this movie has a lot of faults but it’s fun and worth a watch. It's a guilty pleasure and maybe in the sequel they will get someone to act as April O'Neil. I hate to say it this movie is kind of forgettable.
But all together it was much better than the 3rd Turtle’s movie!
Cheers and remember life won’t suck as long as there is a good movie to watch.
