Light years from Earth, 26 years after being abducted, adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the prime target of a manhunt. After discovering an orb wanted by Ronan the Accuser, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a band of criminal outlaw misfits.
Marvel did it again! Guardians of the Galaxy is a fun time from start to finish. The whole cast is amazing, Chris Pratt was the right choice for the lead role. He shows he's not only a comedic actor but he can be a dramatic actor. Zoe Saldana is stunning and shows in this film as she has in the past, that she is a strong female action star, who really pops off the screen. The one actor that really surprised me was former WWE Champion David Bautista. As I haven't read the comic books I thought his character would just be the muscle, but he is surprisingly funny. Rocket Raccoon and Groot may be C.G.I. but they really make the movie and at times they are the ones who make you tear up. I also enjoyed the Han Solo and Chewbacca like relationship that Rocket and Groot have. Michael Rooker, is awesome as always; I always enjoy him as the bad ass but at times I couldn't help but think of him as a blue Merle Dixon. Let's not forget about the amazing list of cameos, if you can spot them.
The sets and CG sets are stunning and beautiful, I saw Guardians of the Galaxy in 3D and it made the movie really pop; the 3D was really well done. The sound track was fun, catchy and tied the movie together. At times the film felt like a rock opera and reminded me of Heavy Metal but I like that movie and I enjoyed the resemblance.
With a strong cast, beautiful sets and designs, awesome music and a rich archive of source material, Guardians of the Galaxy blows The Avengers movie away and sets the bar a little higher for upcoming comic book movies. Also keep your eyes open for the extensive list of easter eggs.
Cheers and remember life won’t suck as long as there is a good movie to watch!
