An ordinary Lego construction worker, thought to be the prophesied 'Special', is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the Lego universe together
This move made me feel like a kid again. The Lego Movie cast is full of talented all stars like: Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Ferrell, Alison Brie, Will Arnett, Liam Nelson, Charlie Day, Morgan Freeman, Will Forte, Jonah Hill, and Nick Offerman with cameos from Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels and everyone brings their A game.
The story is quick paced and the action scenes go so fast you miss a lot of the details. Everything, include the sky, water, dust and fire is all Lego which sucks you into this living, breathing Lego world. This makes you forget you’re watching computer animation and not real Lego peaches. The jokes are funny and are family friendly with lots of fandom love.
There are plot holes which will get fan boys and girls fired up, like how Superman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman aren’t that powerful, and why Gandalf and Dumbledore don’t use magic. I feel like the cameos by those characters are fandom nods and if they were powerful then it would take away from our main characters; all I have to say is just enjoy the movie.
With an amazing living Lego world, loveable characters voiced by awesome talented actors, pick up and go story, fast action scenes and fun for the whole family. The Lego Movie is my favorite animated movie since Wreck It Ralph and is a must see of 2014. BUT be prepared to have the song “everything is awesome” stuck in your head for 2 weeks. Cheers and remember life won’t suck as long as there is a good movie to watch.
