A sequel to the 2012 cult classic, Frank Vega (Danny Trejo) is back and this time he teams up with grumpy old man Bernie Pope (Danny Glover) to kick ass and clean up the streets of L.A. After Frank’s prize boxing student falls in with the wrong crowd and turns up dead, they prove that justice never gets old.
I strongly enjoyed the first film and this one is a worthy sequel. BAD ASSES takes it’s self lightly with funny one liners, old man jokes and over the top action, but it all around fun. Danny Trejo and Danny Glover play older grumpy versions of the bigger characters they are known for, but in a good way. I also really enjoyed seeing these two Danny’s work together and their chemistry helps the past of this movie.
One thing that takes away from this film is the C.G. it looks cheesy but you have to remember this is an independent movie with a much smaller budge. The fight scenes are hard core like the first film but the action scenes are stuff we have seen in other movies before.
The story is a good sequel and flows with the first film. I was super happy that they did a follow up to the 2012 film because it was a film more people should see.
With the great jokes, one liners and chemistry between Trejo and Glover BAD ASSES flows at a fun quick pace. The fight scenes are hard core and all together this is a well done sequel and I can’t wait for the 3rd film. Cheers and remember life won’t suck as long as there is a good movie to watch
