Martin Scorsese is a great movie-maker but I think it was too soon for him to re-make his classic CASINO with a new cast and the exact same script. In this updated version, Leonardo DiCaprio plays Robert DeNiro, Jonah Hill plays Joe Pesci, a pretty blond gal plays Sharon Stone, and most of the cast plays a game called “Toss the Midget.” Scorsese even got the serious-usually-funny Rob Reiner to play the serious-usually-funny Don Rickles.
In an obvious cost-cutting measure, some of the same footage from the original was used, i.e., cutaway shots of terrified toddlers listening to their drunken parents cursing at each other.
I just don’t see it. I mean, I saw it, but I just don’t see it.
