The X-Files was one of the nineties' greatest and most iconic TV series, launching the careers, and subsequent reverence, of televisual stalwarts Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny. It was one of my favorite shows when I was growing up, so with great pleasure I can say that FOX is looking into bringing the show back for a limited run!
Gary Newman, Fox TV Group chairman, recently revealed at the channel's TCA presentation that Anderson and Duchovny, who played FBI special agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder respectively, would of course be brought back to confront the unknown in a limited series similar to FOX's 24: Live Another Day. The only stickler there being when they would be able to pull the cast together due to other commitments.
If you're at odds attempting to scour your mind to remember the show's awesomeness, watch this great montage and relive the horror! There are some super creepy bits in here...

A limited series would allow X-Files creator Chris Carter the opportunity to tell a more detailed and nuanced story rather than going for the jugular with a movie. Both actors are definitely up for reprising their roles. In an interview with Chris Hardwick of Nerdist, Anderson reiterated her excitement and hope over the fact.
Twenty years later, the filing cabinet of strange will be opened again. It'll be interesting to see what Mulder and Scully have been up to since we last ventured with them into the unexplained. Twenty years, there's that pang of "damn, I'm old" again. I wonder how good they look now? Probably great, right?

I cannot wait, I really cannot! In this age of comebacks, it was only natural that one of the best TV series ever would come back to us with open arms!
