In a few weeks, Kingsman: The Secret Service will hit theaters everywhere. There has been much made of the many delays with its release, but I can assure you that the movie is a blast! While the popular belief is that January and February are the dumping grounds for movies, there are some gems out there that are completely worth your time and money. Kingsman: The Secret Service is definitely one of them.
Recently, it was rumored that the first Fantastic Four reboot trailer would be attached to the upcoming release of Kingsman: The Secret Service. Latino Review got confirmation from the reboot's co-screenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Star Wars: Rebels) that a new trailer is coming soon to a theater near you. According to Kinberg from Latino Review:
"We are very excited about the film and can't wait for you to see what we've been up to. And you will be able to do that very soon as I can confirm here that the teaser will be on Kingsman in theaters February 13."
So there you have it! With the confirmation, this would be the first time audiences will get to see anything from the Fantastic Four reboot, so needless to say, there is some anticipation for the superhero movie. Now that we know we're going to get a new trailer, will the Fantastic Four reboot trailer give Kingsman: The Secret Service is bump at the box office?
Well, it couldn't hurt. The new film from Matthew Vaughn is coming out on Valentine's Day weekend, so it's likely that it would not be the #1 movie at the box office. The highly anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey will open against it and there is more fan anticipation for the steamy romance film than the action-packed thrill ride that is Kingsman: The Secret Service. Sorry fanboys, there's a reason why the Fifty Shades of Grey trailer was the most viewed trailer of 2014. With that said, there's a good chance that Fifty Shades of Grey's box office might be frontloaded, just based on fan anticipation and curiosity. Kingsman: The Secret Service might have a good chance to gain legs with its second week of release based on positive reviews and good word of mouth.
Attaching the Fantastic Four reboot trailer to Kingsman: The Secret Service is a good idea because we have no idea what this movie is going to be and since Fantastic Four and Kingsman: The Secret Service have a similar fan base, it's reasonable to think that fans of Fantastic Four will turn up to the theater just to watch a new trailer. After all, this is the first Fantastic Four movie in theaters in eight years since the terrible Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007. Yikes! All this new reboot has to do is just take itself a little more seriously than its predecessor and that alone can sell a new audience on its quality.
Currently, Kingsman: The Secret Service is tracking at about $23 million to $25 million opening weekend, but with the new Fantastic Four trailer, it could rise upwards of an extra $1 million. Now those aren't terrible numbers, but it's moderately respectable.
Kingsman: The Secret Service will hit theaters everywhere on February 13.
