The Flash returns tonight, featuring the incredible pairing of Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller as Heatwave and Captain Cold. The episode is titled "Revenge of the Rogues", and I know I'm not the only one looking forward to this little Prison Break reunion! (You can read more about how these two actors came to team up again here.)

Up until now, we haven't known much beyond the fact that Captain Cold had recruited his old bank-robbing buddy and given him a fire-gun-thing. Finally, we can see a little more, courtesy of this new clip.

Clearly, the two are setting some kind of trap for Barry - who else would the gun "be for" if not for the cops? What makes this more interesting, however, is the obvious tension between them. Captain Cold is clearly in control, and the mastermind behind the plan, and Heatwave...doesn't seem overly pleased about taking on the role of sidekick. It was bound to happen - fire and ice being opposites and all that - but I wonder if this will come to ahead within tonight's episode.

I really hope not, because I would love to see these two become recurring characters and develop the Rogues Gallery along with their relationship. I think that the Flash has an incredible opportunity here, and I don't want to see them cut it short. (Side note: I am loving what Purcell is doing with Heatwave's voice - I am so excited to see where else he goes with the character!)

As well as the clip, we now also have this synopsis released by the CW (from

WENTWORTH MILLER AND DOMINIC PURCELL (“PRISON BREAK”) TEAM UP AGAIN AS CAPTAIN COLD AND HEAT WAVE CHALLENGE THE FLASH TO AN EPIC BATTLE — Leonard Snart AKA Captain Cold (guest star Wentworth Miller) returns to Central City with a new hotheaded partner in tow – Mick Rory AKA Heat Wave (guest star Dominic Purcell). The duo plan to steal a multi-million dollar painting, but Cold has another agenda while in town – to set a trap for The Flash. Snart and Mick kidnap someone close to The Flash and threaten to kill them unless The Flash shows up for a battle of fire and ice. Barry tells Joe (Jesse L. Martin) he isn’t sure he should take on Snart again after the casualties that happened the last time they fought. Meanwhile, Barry asks Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh), Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) to help him double his training efforts so he’s ready for the Reverse Flash when he returns to Central City. Iris (Candice Patton) deals with the aftermath of Barry’s confession, and Cisco makes the CCPD a new shield. Nick Copus directed the episode written by Geoff Johns & Kai Yu Wu.

It seems from this that revenge isn't the only thing on Leonard's mind - he's also after something to sell. I'm actually really happy about this; if Captain Cold was just coming back to face off with Barry, I would have been a bit disappointed. I feel that Snart is a much more interesting character if he's not 100% focused on the Flash, but still a criminal in his own right.

However this plays out, I can't wait to watch the new episode, and I'm thrilled to see Purcell and Miller together again!
