CBS's Supergirl has finally been confirmed to be played by Melissa Benoist (Glee)!
You can see Melissa's tweet of the announcement:
Seems the look of the character in the comics is being taken seriously as she has already taken steps to go from brunette to blonde:
As far as costumes go, I think that the belly-showing, cheer-leader outfit might come off as a little off-putting. Me personally, I prefer the New 52 design.
It would seem that CW's Stephen Amell (Arrow) and Grant Gustin (Flash) are also excited about the news! Check out their twitter responses to the announcement:
Interestingly enough, Grant Gustin also co-starred alongside Melissa on the FOX hit, Glee, as well. So I'm sure the two are hoping to cross super-paths later down the line.
We've heard a lot of different things about Supergirl possibly being included in future cross-overs between Arrow and Flash and we've heard the opposite as well. But does the Green Arrow's and Flash's excitement and congratulatory twitter responses suggest that they may know something the rest of us don't, and that the creators at CBS and CW don't want us to know yet?
But either way, I'm excited about the news! I don't know Melissa's work but I like Supergirl as a character and it will be cool to see her get some well-deserved attention so I decided to do a little shout-out myself:
What do you guys think of the news of Melissa Benoist getting the role? And what do you guys think of the Supergirl show altogether? Comment below!
