Nicolas Cage will play your average, everyday American....except he's on the hunt for Osama Bin Laden.
Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage is set to star in director Larry Charles' satirical comedy; [Army of One](movie:2611651)
The film is based loosely on the story of Gary Faulkner, a construction worker from Colorado who attempted to make his into Pakistan and Afghanistan on several occasions in search of the terrorist leader before his assassination in 2011 by Seal Team Six.
Larry Charles previously directed the comedies: BORAT, BRUNO and THE DICTATOR. BORAT was a really fresh comedy, that used it mockumentary style to great advantage. BRUNO and THE DICTATOR however proved to be sophomoric and flat comedies, so this could go either way.
I believe this will all fall down onto the shoulders of Nicolas Cage, who in recent years has become a Hollywood joke, but has still proved to be a very capable actor when he needs to be. I think this is exactly the right kind of role for Nicolas Cage, and one he can really play around with.
Gary Faulkner's story was published in GQ Magazine and told of his missions to the Middle East armed with a sword he'd bought on a home shopping network, a pistol and a pair of night vision goggles. He believed he had been chosen by God for this mission to bring the terrorist leader to justice.
