For the past decade or so comic books have been growing from strength to strength on the big screen. But now more than ever their popularity is rocketing and now with the DCU coming into play, we have an interesting few years ahead of us. So from what I have been able to construct, here is your run down of upcoming films to last you until the end of 2020! (Living in the UK I am loving that we've started getting superhero movies a week in before the US now!)

May 1

To start us off on our guide is the long awaited Avengers 2: Age of Ultron

"When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and it is up to the Avengers to stop the villainous Ultron from enacting his terrible plans." - IMDB

July 17

Not long after and Marvel brings you Ant Man (The original creator of Ultron)

"Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world." - IMDB

August 7

Next is the controversial reboot of The Fantastic Four

"Four young outsiders teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy."

February 12

And so we start off 2016 with none other than the "merc with a mouth" it's Deadpool!

Unknown plot, but we do know that Ryan Reynolds will be reprising the role, if you haven't checked out the test footage I highly recommend you click here Deadpool Test Footage

March 25

It's the one everyone's been waiting for (well almost everyone) Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice

Again, plot is unknown all we know is there will be a lot of heavy hitters in there including, Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman, Aquaman, Lex Luthor and rumors of The Flash and Doomsday too!

May 6

Next good ol' cap returns in Captain America 3: Civil War. Now any comic book fans will know that the Civil war storyline was very iconic and with one of the key characters missing (spidey) this movie has a lot to live up to

"Following the events of the Age of Ultron, the collective governments of the world pass an act designed to regulate all superhuman activity. This polarizes opinion amongst the Avengers, causing two factions to side with Iron Man or Captain America, which causes an epic battle between former allies." - IMDB

May 27

Less than a month later and the latest installment from the X-Franchise hits our screens in the form of X-Men: Apocalypse

Not a lot is known on this film as will be the case of the ones to come as they are too far ahead but what we do know is it will center on the younger generation e.g. James McAvoy as Charles Xavier rather than Patrick Stewart. The main villain will be the infamous, timeless Apocalypse and his 4 horsemen

August 5

As if the year wasn't already good enough with films we get Suicide Squad to up next!

A secret government agency recruits imprisoned supervillains to execute dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency.

November 4

Next up is Dr Strange played by the infamous Benedict Cumberbatch

"After his career is destroyed, a brilliant but arrogant surgeon gets a new lease on life when a sorcerer takes him under his wing and trains him to defend the world against evil." - IMDB

November 11

Now the next one may not go ahead as planned, if at all but nevertheless here we go with Sinister Six

"Six of mankind's greatest enemies form an alliance to destroy New York City and Spider-Man."

March 3

Now to start 2017 with yet another Wolverine film, the title is yet to be released but it will be starring Hugh Jackman once again

May 5

2 days later! And we get another dose, this time from Guardians of the Galaxy 2

No plot yet I'm afraid

June 23

An Amazon princess comes to the world of Man to become the greatest of the superheroines.

July 14

The Fantastic Four 2

No plot as of yet

July 28

Next up everyone's favourite hammer wielding norse god in Thor: Ragnarok

"Thor must confront the gods to the gods when Asgard is threatened with Ragnarok, the Norse apocalypse." IMDB

And to boot guess who's come back to kick him when he's down? Well what are brothers for?

November 3

For our next film we explore the origin of the metal that comprises Cap's shield (vibranium), in Wakanda with Black Panther

"The royal leader of an African nation's father is killed leaving him with the kingdom and a costume called the black panther." IMDB

November 17

OK now for my absolute favourite The Justice League Part One

"Earth's greatest heroes are assembled to form the Justice League, to combat a threat beyond each member's capabilities." IMDB

Hardly a cinematic pic but still

July 13

Unnamed X-Men Movie (possibly X-Force or X-Men Origins: Gambit)

Green Lantern is back! Whether this is a remake starring Hal Jordan again or whether they'll decide to choose someone else like Guy Gardener, John Stewart, Kyle Rainer, or maybe even a combination is unclear at this time

Just a few more to look out for when we get some dates or indeed names for some of these

X-Force, Gambit, Sandman, Justice League Dark, Untitled Superman Movie and Untitled Batman Movie
