Kingdom Hearts 3 has been teasing us all with news and the prospects of a 2015 release date for the Xbox One and PS4, particularly with Goofy's statement that we might see it this year. Who knows? Perhaps our next adventure with Sora will take place a lot quicker then we had imagined!
But I can"t help but wonder how the franchise will continue after such a long gap. Can they still preserve the feeling that is distinctly KH? Has the industry changed so much that the adventure we get with Sora won't feel like a Kingdom Hearts game anymore? Well, according to the series's co-director, Kingdom Hearts 3 had huge help from the fact that half of the team was working on the Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix!
Kingdom Hearts 3 & KH 2.5 HD Remix
These are the words of Tai Yasue (am I the only one that just adores Japanese names??), who confirms that working in such close proximity with the games again has instilled the true sense of Kingdom hearts in to the upcoming 3rd installment. Though Yasue is also all for moving in new directions with KH3, or at least expanding upon the formula that the previous titles have introduced.
He says that himself and the team want to make it true to Disney - they don't want to change the formula fundamentally. They always strive to make original content, but with Kingdom Hearts you have to really respect the source material, and that's something people really like about the series. So no need to fear fellow KH fans, Disney and the series will get the respect they deserve!
Also, the man has been quoted in saying that nothing is off limits in terms of content from Disney. They are constantly in contact with the company, ensuring that their material is respected while the team also attempts to improve upon gameplay mechanics and narrative. So what do you think guys, does this hint at the possible inclusion of Marvel and Star Wars characters in the next KH game?
We'll just have to wait until we get more news as we get closer to the release date of Kingdom Hearts 3 on the Xbox One and PS4!
