Fans were reeling with shock when it was announced that Steven R. McQueen who plays Jeremy in The Vampire Diaries had decided to move on to pastures new, and now we all have to get ready to wave him our final goodbyes.
It seems like Jer's final episode will be a lot earlier than most of us were anticipating with CarterMatt reporting a scheduled exit during the February 13th episode entitled 'Stay.'
Although this news outlet isn't officially connected to [The Vampire Diaries](series:200853) team, there is plenty of reason to believe that this is, in fact, correct.
Check out the official synopsis below to see what I mean:
It’s Jeremy’s (Steven R. McQueen) last day in Mystic Falls and Elena (Nina Dobrev) puts on a brave face as they reminisce about their past. Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice Accola) find themselves growing closer as they prepare Caroline’s family cabin for her mother to live out her final days. While packing up her office, Sheriff Forbes (guest star Marguerite MacInytre) turns to Damon (Ian Somerhalder) for help solving one of her remaining open cases involving Elena’s parents. Elsewhere, when a violent confrontation with Enzo (Michael Malarkey) leaves Jeremy wondering whether he should leave or not, Matt (Zach Roerig) finds his own life on the line after Enzo lures him and Sarah Salvatore (guest star Tristan Mays) into his dangerous plan. Lastly, Caroline rushes to the hospital after learning her mother has taken a turn for the worse.
Unless Jeremy ends up returning for some reason (although his storylines have not been compelling enough this season to give him much reason to do so) this really does seem to be the episode where Jeremy and his bulging biceps will walk out of our lives for good.
I can't really blame McQueen for leaving to be honest with you. His character's story arcs seem more and more like an afterthought these days and I look forward to seeing him flexing his acting muscles elsewhere.
