Recently, [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073) director James Gunn held a Facebook Q+A and commentary, answering fans' questions directly about the movie. He revealed something interesting - Yondu (Michael Rooker) was nearly killed off!

Here is his direct quote:

"In the original script (that I wrote) Rocket had a little bomb in this scene. At the end Quill put it in the Orb when he gave it to Yondu. And, as Yondu flew away at the very end, his whole ship exploded."

It's likely that he'll be returning in [Guardians of the Galaxy 2](movie:1081113) since Gunn kept him alive, but it hasn't yet been confirmed.

I personally thought his southern accent and general d-baginess helped keep this movie entertaining. I would love to see him return in the sequel!

What do you think?

Would you like to have seen Yondu explode and die in a fiery spaceship?
