With the extremely exiting news that Emma Watson will be joining the Disney family as Belle in the live-acton, the Moviepilot offices have been buzzing over who else will be cast to join the young star.

Sure, I'm not casting a director (at least not yet), but I've got some ideas of who else could fit the massive shoes of these classic animated characters. These are just my opinions, but here are a few actors that I think would be great to joint the cast of Disney's live-action [Beauty and the Beast](movie:362071).

Emma Watson as Belle

Of course we already know that Emma has been cast to play Belle (exciting!), but there are some people who doubt that she'll be able to properly portray the role. I get it, I feel very protective over characters that played such an integral role in my childhood, like Belle. But, in the end, I trust Disney.

Emma Watson is charming, graceful, and intelligent, so I have no doubt that she'll be able to act the part. The main question now is whether or not she can sing. I wouldn't put it past Emma to be a fantastic singer who has just been too modest to come forward with her talents. According to a few forums, Emma Watson is singing the background vocals for Ben Hammersley's song "Pantomime." It's not much to go off of, but if that's the case, she has a lovely voice.

Chris Hemsworth as the Beast/Prince Adam

I've already discussed this in my "Actors Who Could Definitely Be Real Life Disney Princes" post, but I think that Chris Hemsworth would be perfect to play the Beast.

First off, aesthetically, I struggle to think of any actors who can pull of long hair, piercing blue eyes, and ripped shirts the same way Chris Hemsworth can. From an acting standpoint, this role wouldn't be too different from Thor, which he is fantastic in. He starts off the story somewhat cocky and slightly standoffish, but you learn to love him, not despite his flaws, but because of them. I know that in reality, Hemsworth is likely too tied up in Marvel to take on this role, but wouldn't he be great in it?

Do you agree?

Joe Manganiello as Gaston

Like with Chris Hemsworth, I chose Joe Manganiello in my dream casting as Gaston many months ago in my "These Actors And Actresses Could Be Real Life Disney Villains" post.

As much as it would pain me to see Manganiello play anything other than a total sweetheart, I think he could definitely pull it off. Not to mention, he's got the body and jawline to match. He probably could eat as many eggs as Gaston and is also roughly the size of a barge.

Do you agree?

Jean Dujardin as Lumiere

We have to have at least one French guy in the cast, right? Clearly the French-iest character of them all is the charismatic host/wingman, Lumiere. That's why famous French actor Jean Dujardin would be fantastic in the role.

You might know him from his roles in [The Wolf of Wall Street](movie:16412) and The Artist which won him an Academy Award for Best Actor. As has been demonstrated in his past roles, he can shmooze and charm as need be. And he can sing! At least well enough to pull off "Be Our Guest."

Do you agree?

Nathan Lane as Cogsworth

As a man of both stage and screen, I am confident that Nathan Lane would play Cogsworth fantastically. Plus, we know he can sing from his multiple stints on Broadway and Tony wins. I have also never seen Lane take on a role that I didn't like him in.

True, these actors will likely be mo-capped and put in CGI for the bulk of the film, but Nathan Lane's personality and presence is strong enough to transcend any of the flaws that tend to occur when technology meets real life. And when the characters finally do resume their human forms, he looks like a match to me.

Poll

Do you agree?

Danny DeVito as Maurice

I think that this is my best fan casting suggestion yet. I mean, c'mon! Danny DeVito not only fits Maurice's body type and general look to a tee, but he's also able to play the eccentric, yet lovable role well.

DeVito would also add a necessary does of comic relief in what could otherwise be a pretty dark movie. His daughter is captured by a Beast, after all. I would love to see him don that apron and magnifying glasses and run around like the town loon talking about monsters and talking kitchen appliances.

Poll

Do you agree?

Charlie Day as Lefou

Another dose of comic relief, Charlie Day would make the perfect Lefou. His character is constantly bouncing off the walls and needs to be talked down, just like Charlie in the majority of his roles! I also think he has the voice to match Gaston's sidekick.

If this fan casting were to work out my way, which it undoubtedly and sadly won't, I would love to see Charlie Day work on a movie with Danny De Vito since their characters mesh well together on [It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia](series:200878). He might need some body padding to fully fit Lefou's frame, but that's not out of the realm of possibility.

Do you agree?

Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Potts

No one can top Angela Lansbury's version of "Beauty and the Beast." Angela is older now than when she initially played Mrs. Potts in Disney's 1991 animated version (duh), but even at 89, she's truly timeless and inimitable.

That. Is. All.

As is the case with each of these fan castings, these are solely my opinions and are in no way official, or the only options. If you guys have any ideas of who you'd like to see in these roles, please let me know in the comments section. I'd love to hear what you guys think!
