In Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows Part 2, we were finally given the opportunity to feast our eyes on what we had all been waiting for... the moment when Ron and Hermione finally pucker up for the most anticipated kiss of the book series!
If you need a reminder of the epic embrace, here it is again:
Yet for Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, locking lips on-screen was far from magical and both have spoken about how awkward the kissing scene was to film. In particular, Emma Watson said this:
So, while we were trembling with glee at the fact that Hermione and Ron were finally getting it on, it's no wonder that the two Harry Potter stars felt like they were indulging in an act of incest!
Since meeting on the set of the first film back in 2000, they have developed a very close brother-sister relationship so it's completely understandable how uncomfortable having to do that was. Imagine kissing your SIBLING!?
Yet, thankfully Emma admits that “the only good side to it was the fact that we were both in the same boat.”
“We were both just like, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe we have to do this. This is so awkward. Really awkward.’ So I could take comfort in the fact that Rupert felt the same way. We were both giggling. We were like 12-year-olds. We were like giggling children, where you just couldn’t keep it together.”
And what does Rupert have to say on the matter? Take a look at this short interview below to see how he feels about it:
Clearly, Rupert also agrees that it was "quite a strange thing" and that "he felt quite self-conscious."
Yup, the acting profession can sometimes be very tricky indeed...
