Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is allegedly very close to receiving its release date for the Xbox One and PS4 according to Konami. And to be honest, the more I think about it, the more I feel as if this will be my game of the year. I still can't get past the official trailer for MGS5. Its cinematic quality is astounding, the direction and editing is superb and the dark subject matter is sure to give this Snake some real bite.

Oh, and speaking of bite! ZOMBIES! Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes may not have given us that much in terms of gameplay, but when it was released for PC, our PC gamers out there were able to uncover some truly fascinating things in the game's code. One of the most exciting things to come out of this has been the revelatory discovery of controller operations for Snake's wolf! We may actually be playing as him in the game, more on this here!

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Zombies

In terms of popular culture, zombies are just massive at the moment! In the gaming industry, in this year alone, we already have H1Z1 and Dying Light, with plenty more where that came from. As Kojima has stated before, he was seriously impressed by Rockstar's GTA V and felt that his game was not going to be able to live up to player's modern expectations.

But these are two very different genres and Snake will always have a place in the gaming community, Kojima has ensured that. But I feel like it's going to lead to a lot of content in MGS5, some of which comes from other successful, more western franchises. Hey more content is awesome, I just hope it sticks to what makes this series so incredible. So that's why I feel like this code discovery could be there because of the likes of COD's zombie mini-games.

A post was made on Reddit in which a PC player of Ground Zeroes found this intriguing little gem in the game's code: “property name=”isZombie”. Now, the question remains though, is this hinting at the presence of zombies, or is it simply the name of a solider in the game?

To be honest, though I love my zombies, Metal Gear Solid never felt like it was missing anything. This is Kojima's auteur driven world, and I'd hate to see it tainted by the idea that he should pander to the desires of people who don't play the games just to get more money. But if they are in fact in the game, well, I trust Kojima so much that I honestly couldn't see it as a bad decision as I'm sure that its implementation was something that the director felt was right!

I just really wish I had a release date for this game!! At least that way I could start counting down the days on the calendar. Are you guys looking forward to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on Xbox One and PS4? Do you think we'll see zombies?! Let us know in the comments!
