  • We've all heard of the Oculus Rift nowadays, I mean really, who hasn't. But despite all its amazing features, it costs way more than we actually want to pay. But don't give up!! Because there's now an alternative, and it's much much cheaper.

Back in 2014, at Google I/O, they announced this smart piece of hardware, 'Google Cardboard'. And that's what it is, cardboard, no wonder it's cheap. The instructions to make it are on Google's site so you can build it yourself. Or, if you wanted to, you can buy a premade kit.

So what do you do?

All you need is a big piece of cardboard, lenses, magnets, velcro and a rubber band. Once you've made it, then you're gonna need you're phone. You download a vr app onto your phone, open it up, and then fit your phone into Cardboard. And bang. That's it. Your VR experience awaits.

There's tons of different apps you can choose, so find the right one for you, and I bet that you really will not be disappointed. A mere fraction of the price of the Oculus Rift, and I can assure you, as I've tried both, the experience is pretty much exactly the same. Building instructions, and premade kits.
