It is time to reincarnate the Dark Knight.

Here is a brief summary of the show. Batman Beyond for those of you who don't know - It was a 1999-2001 animated television series about the future of Gotham city and an old Bruce Wayne who is getting too old to dawn the cape. The Batman lives on though when a young teenage boy named Terry McGinnins finds out Bruce's secret and then takes over the role of Batman after his father is murdered. The animated series is on Netflix if you're interested in learning more.

Now, with the two Tim Burton Batman films, Christopher Nolan's trilogy, and now the future of the DC cinematic universe taking off with Ben Affleck taking over the mantle, It's about time to get a fresh take on the Dark Knight. I think Batman Beyond would be the ultimate way to do it. I was a huge fan of the show as a kid and have spent years imagining and writing a Batman Beyond live-action film. So here is how I imagine a Batman Beyond film.

Keaton as an old, grumpy Bruce Wayne perhaps?
Keaton as an old, grumpy Bruce Wayne perhaps?

I am a huge fan of Michael Keaton and after seeing Birdman. I think he could be perfect as an old, grumpy, retired Bruce Wayne. And instead of him reprising his role as Batman in Tim Burton's universe, how about his playing as an older version of Christian Bale's Batman in the Nolan universe? I know that is probably super out of the picture, but just imagine Michael Keaton being apart of the dark, serious, and visually stunning Christopher Nolan universe! I'm a huge fan of Tim Burton and what he did with his movies, but this way we would get the best of both worlds!

Avan Jogia as Terry McGinnis.
Avan Jogia as Terry McGinnis.

I know Avan Jogia doesn't look a whole lot like the Terry McGinnis that we remember from the show, but if you've ever seen the show Twisted, you would know that Avan can play a dark, mysterious badass and I think that that is what Terry needs to be. In the show Terry has a juvy record and hung out with the wrong crowd before becoming the Batman. If you know the show, then you know who the Jokers are. What if the wrong crowd that Terry was hanging out with was the Jokers, but before they became the Jokers? Lets say Terry was apart of a gang and he gets in some legal troubles with the gang and they throw Terry under the bus putting him in juvy. Then while Terry is serving his time in juvy, his "gang" forms into the Jokers. The Jokers move up to larger crimes and rightfully earn their name. Then Terry gets out to find out that his father was murdered. Then he meets Bruce Wayne and yada yada yada... HE THEN BECOMES THE BATMAN.

The Jokers need to be F***ING AWESOME!!!
The Jokers need to be F***ING AWESOME!!!

The Jokers have to be bad ass. Ruthless, humorous, and just pure eye candy. Give them a rugged, dirty, and raw look like Heath Ledger's Joker. Have them idolize Heath Ledger's Joker and have them worship anarchy. Make them believe that their is no hope for Gotham and make them want the city to burn.

Chloe Grace Moretz as the Dee Dee Twins.

I think Chloe Grace would be perfect as the Dee Dee twins. If you don't already know, the Dee Dee twins are the granddaughters of Harley Quinn. It would take some extra editing since she would be playing two different characters, but I think she would definitely be worth it. I would love to see what she could do to the obnoxious twins.

WE NEED NOLAN
WE NEED NOLAN

This could also be a great way to get Nolan back into the Batman universe. I can just imagine how dark and visually stunning Chris could make it.

So all in all, those are some ideas I have for a Batman Beyond movie. But what do you guys think? Share your opinions, ideas, and casting choices in the comment section.
