Cyberpunk 2077 is a title that we won't be hearing anything about for quite a while, seeing as CD Projekt RED is dealing with a now twice delayed The Witcher 3. That means we won't be getting any news about gameplay, a release date or narrative for quite some time. But even just from the trailer, this upcoming Xbox One, PS4 and PC title looks stunning.
The series comes from a successful Table-Top game Cyberpunk 2020, and though not many features of the title are understood, we do have some kind of news about it and this E3 trailer has given us enough to get excited about!
Cyberpunk 2077 & Blade Runner
Being a massive fun of what I would consider to be one of the greatest American films of all time, Blade Runner, also Ridley Scott did a marvellous job with Alien (what happened to him?!?!), this game has me seriously excited. Its dystopian future is akin to that of the Asian-style streets that we saw in Scott's masterpiece.
The sound effects, the blinding neon lights, the ships, the weapons. It really does get its inspiration from this film. Now I'm just left wondering what sort of combat is going to be in this game. Are we going to playing as a kind of Replicant? Forced to come to grips with a society that deems we do not have the right to be called human.
I'd love to see another game along the lines of what was explored with Deus Ex: Human Revolution's narrative. Feeling as if you don't belong is a great way to observe a fantasy or futuristic setting. One that confronts us with the harmful nature of our technological advancements.
What we know about the game is that we can actually choose from different characters at the outset of the game, or at least certain classes. The story will be non-linear and will have a large focus on character customisation, as we see with this woman's blades coming out of her arms.
The game will be able to be played in both first-person and third-person, and will have a rather incredible language system. In this society there will be many different tongues spoken to us. If it's the case that you know the language, you'll have no issues understanding certain characters. But we'll have to find upgrades that will enable us to understand foreign languages that we ourselves cannot speak.
CD Projekt RED are aiming to hire natives from every country who's language is featured. Seriously, that is something I find insanely cool. This really could be the Blade Runner of video games, and oh how I've waited to see something just like it! Let us know what you think of Cyberpunk 2077 in the comments!
