Have you ever just walked away from a movie and thought to yourself, "I just waisted my time on a movie, seriously though, it had Liam Neeson in it." Well there has been two movies in Liam Neeson's career where I thought to myself i just waisted my time and this was one of them.
Let me start with the high rating of two for this movie. There is actually an option for a zero but visually it was great. Cinematography is a huge ordeal for me. If a book that you are reading doesn't sell to your imagination the imagery that you trying to visualize you won't be able to understand the story correctly. For me, that is the same thing with cinematography. If it doesn't visually make me go wow what a beautiful shot or I can see this scene taking place there I loose interest quickly. So I have to give this movie a two for its stunning shots.
Now...Liam Neeson. I'm at a loss of words. I realize his acting ability isn't the same as Daniel Day Lewis. However, he is still a great actor and for this movie to fall as flat as it did surprised me. Very slow, the story was boring and unoriginal, nooooooo character development for anyone other than the fact that Liam's character stopped drinking after a shoot out. They have one character in the movie, a teenage boy, which they had amazing possibilities with but didn't go anywhere with. Nothing came full circle and the ending is possibly the worst thing I have seen since the human centipede. (Yes it is compared to that horrific of a movie.)
Is there any good out of this movie other than the cinematography? Yes...but only one. Adam David Thompson. He stole the movie and did so in less than 10 lines. His acting ability is getting stronger and more confident with every film he does. He has done some great work in the past and this by far isn't his best but it's because of the movie but he definitely took over the movie. I can't wait to see more from him.
If you get a chance to watch this movie...pass. If you are a Liam Neeson fan and just have to watch it...okay, I understand but by far the worst thing I have seen from him in a long time.
