Once again, reddit has revealed something hidden within a film. The website is awash with insane fan theories, and revelations regarding pop culture. Earlier today, reddit user mrcchapman posted this incredible revelation regarding one of the most famous movie lines of all time.

'I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti'

The line made famous by Sir Anthony Hopkins, has always been seen as Dr Lecter's psychotic choice of sides as he tells Clarice what happened to the last person who tried to test him. However, mrcchapman has revealed that the famous line by Hannibal Lecter is in fact a medical joke!

The factoid points to the fact that Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) could have been used to treat him, and there are three things you're not allowed to have whilst on them. You guessed it: Liver, beans and wine.

As a psychiatrist, Lecter would of been aware of this fact, and so as well as making Clarice uncomfortable he was cracking a joke for his own amusement and hinting that he hasn't been taking his meds.
